Boti and Pako

Someone saw me flossing my teeth sometimes ago and asked if I am an ‘Ajebo’. I was kind of sarcastic about such a question. My counter-question was “Is it only Ajebo that flosses?” Later that week, someone else made a comment that got me more confused about Ajebo and ‘Ajepako’.

I was coming from heroGARDENS and he was surprised to see me with farming tools. He couldn’t conclude on what I was using them for, so he decided to ask me. I told him I have a garden and he laughed me to scorn. “You fit farm?” He asked rhetorically. He advised me not to waste my time and little energy in starting up a garden.

Meanwhile, he asked to see how far I’ve gone to know the extent to which I’ve wasted my time…

When we got there, you need to see the surprise on his face. Instead of looking at the farm, he changed his gaze and focused on me with his lips ajar. “I though you are an Ajebo oh” was his first comment after recovering from what seem to be a shock. My question now is: “Who/What is an Ajebo?”

Can't Stand Sinning Against Me, Myself and I

I can offend my mum! She'll forgive me of course...
My dad may scold me but he'll sure forgive me too...
Leave me to my friends, I'll handle them...we know how we do our things afterall!
God? Oh, He has forgiven me my sins even before the birth of my great grand father's mother!
Wow, I'm good to go then!
But, What if I offend myself? Oh come on, that's not possible...
Wait-wait-wait! It's actually possible -I can sin against my body as stated in I Cor. 6:18. (ehn...ehn...*scratching my head*). Hey, No stammering! Here's my CONCLUSION: Since fornication is the only sin against my body; I, on behalf of me, myself and I; do solemnly pledge to steer clear of sex until my marital status reads 'married'.

So help me God!

The Greatest Footballer of all Time!

Argentina star -Lionel Messi has again reinstated his status as the greatest player on the planet by becoming the first player to win FIFA's prestigious Ballon d'Or title for four consecutive years.

The Barcelona forward, who broke a number of records in 2012, beat teammate Andres Iniesta and Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo to an award voted for by national coaches, captains and journalists.

The 25-year-old polled 41.60% of the votes, ahead of Ronaldo on 23.68% and Iniesta with 10.91%, to win his fourth title in a row.

Using this medium to say a big congratulations to the football Lion himself... Messi all the way!!!

Divine Top Up

Wow, it feels so great to be part of those who made it to this year! First, I will want to congratulate you for the successful crossover -so many people were not that graced. I therefore want to thank God on your behalf (that’s the least I can do).

But come to think of it… if God were to be one of these telecommunication companies that charge 50 Kobo per second; you may have to subscribe for this year with fifteen million, three hundred and seventy-nine thousand, two hundred Naira (N15,379,200)! I doubt if you would have made it but I am sure I would not have been able to pay such a huge sum of money. Hmm, thank God for God!

Talking about 2013, there have been several prophecies and projections but I will be the most selfish individual if I do not share my personal insight with you… Have you ever heard of ‘German Dozen’ before? If yes, cool and if no, I’ll tell you. German Dozen is thirteen i.e. Normal Dozen plus one. Generally, thirteen means extra (12+1) and by the virtue of this, the Lord will top up all the blessing packages that He has in store for you and your loved ones this year and beyond!

You're a Mast!

I read a friends' post on facebook sometimes ago asking me to check those who deleted me from their friends list. But guess what? I laughed in Chinese and simply said "anyone who deletes me without me noticing is not worth being my friend in the first place".

Come on! You're a mast and mast cannot be hidden. You're meant to be a super star. A shining example to your world. Your name is expected to attract some eternal relevance. A hero -that's who you're made to be!

That's not to mean you should start putting up an 'I too know' attitude. Neither do you need to start behaving in some hypocritical way. Just do what you know how to do best and hand over the neatly-packed rest to God!

Ban of All Promotions and Lotteries by Telecommunications Operators

The Commission has, in recent times been inundated with several complaints from consumers, Industry Stakeholders against the various promotions offered by Telecommunications Operators.

Consistent with its processes, the Commission has carefully evaluated the complaints received especially against the backdrop of sustaining the integrity of the networks, the general interest of the consumers, the socio-economic impact of these promotions on Operators and other relevant stakeholders.

The Commission is also mindful of its statutory responsibilities such as; to protect and promote the interest of consumers against unfair practices, promote fair competition in the industry by protecting Operators from misuse of market power and anti-competitive/unfair practices by other Operators.

i. In due regard to the afore-mentioned responsibilities therefore and having observed that these promotions have increased the number of minutes available to subscribers for use within a limited period of time thereby creating congestion in the networks as subscribers try to use up the available minutes within the stipulated time.

ii. That on-net calls were now being offered by Operators at tariffs well below the prevailing inter-connect rates thereby introducing anti-competitive practices and behaviour.

iii. That termination of calls were becoming increasingly difficult from one network to another and overall consumer experience on the networks has become very poor thereby making it extremely difficult for subscribers to make calls successfully.

Consequent upon the above-mentioned, the Commission therefore has banned all promotions by Telecommunications Network Operators as well as lotteries being carried out on such networks. This ban covers all proposed and approved promotions and lotteries on which the Commission has given approval further to the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) entered into with the National Lottery Regulatory Commission (NLRC).

This ban is with immediate effect and shall continue to remain in force until such a time as may be determined by the Commission. The Telecom Operators affected by this include the following:

• GLOBACOM LTD
• MTN
• INTERCELLULAR NIG PLC
• VISAFONE COMMS LTD
• ETISALAT
• AIRTEL NETWORKS LTD
• MULTILINKS TELECOMS LTD

The Commission wishes to assure all Telecommunications consumers of its resolve to ensure that the Quality of Service offered across all networks is such that delivers value to the consumers.
